Imogen Allen’s Freelance Ecosystem

In our next post, we hear from Imogen Allen

Imogen is a UK based content-led website designer who is part of the Freelancers Heroes group for freelancers who work from home, cafes and coworking spaces all over the UK

What are you working on, and what do you love about it?

My focus is on delivering content-led website design which means I help clients create a website which speaks to the consumer they want to attract with a human-centred focus. The layout and user experience is at the heart of the design and to do this the content comes first.

Where do you interact with other freelancers in your industry or topic area?

There are a few key WordPress Facebook Groups and memberships where I hang out with other designers and developers in the webspace. Such as Agency Trailblazers, The Admin Bar, No Stress WordPress and No Fear Funnels. I also have one to one calls with colleagues and friends in the industry. I am also involved with WP&UP, a charity helping to support mental health in the WordPress Community.

What benefits have you and your business got from being in contact with other freelancers?

It has made me feel supported, help me grow and learn as a web designer and has made me feel less alone.

What is the one thing that is missing where you live that would support your freelance career?

Co-working space. However, I am part of a community-based project in Lichfield called Nurture Network and am involved in a focus group to help develop a coworking space in the area.
