A big mess on a small island: Keeping Dalmatia’s olive oil tradition alive

Event Details

Joe Orovic is a freelance journalist and writer with an infernal olive habit. He left his native New York City in 2013, now living and working full-time on a small island off the coast of Zadar called Iž. When he’s not writing for the likes of The New York Times, Popular Science and Total Croatia News, you can find Joe rejuvenating the 200-plus olive trees his family admirably spent decades ignoring, cursing the entire time.

The Venue

Saltwater is community-focused, offering a friendly, productive workspace and meeting hub for locals and remote workers. It is a cowork office and event venue in the heart of Split. Saltwater is run by Tanja and Mia, back in Split after years living and working abroad. We know the local ins and outs, and enjoy the perks of living on the Dalmatian coast. We partner with local and international business and are part of the European Creative Hubs Network and Coworking Croatia.
